Welcome Jack Sanford – Legal Pro, Local Leader, Lifelong Teammate
Jack Sanford
We’re thrilled to welcome Jack Sanford to the board, an attorney, community leader, and low-key superhero. Jack joins us with an impressive resume and a clear passion for giving back. When he’s not representing clients as a personal injury and wrongful death attorney at Abbey Weitzenberg in Santa Rosa, you can find him biking, surfing, or chasing after his two young sons (we assume not all at once… but we wouldn't be surprised).
Jack’s commitment to community runs deep. He serves on the boards for both Legal Aid of Sonoma County and the Sonoma County Bar Association, and he’s co-chair of an annual legal education outreach program for local schools. In 2023, he landed on the North Bay Business Journal’s Forty Under 40 list.
We asked Jack a few questions to get to know him better, and his answers remind us why we’re so lucky to have him on board.
What was your safe place as a kid—real or imagined?
“My ‘safe place’ as a kid was playing sports. It was always a fun and comfortable space for me to be myself and be present. Sports were a source of confidence and provided opportunities to learn how to deal with failure and challenges.”
If you could give your 10-year-old self one piece of advice, what would it be?
“Be patient. Challenges will make you stronger, so always challenge yourself and learn from your mistakes.”
What did “success” look like to you as a child? Has that changed?
“Success as a kid meant having fun with my friends. Success is now being the best person I can be for the people I love… also having fun with my loved ones.”
When did you first understand what it meant to give back or be part of a community?
“I had the opportunity to help people rebuild their homes in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Helping others was just incredibly rewarding. It also opened my eyes to the extent help is needed and how lucky I was to be able to provide help and not need it.”
What values did your family or upbringing pass on to you that still guide you today?
“My family taught me the golden rule - to always treat others the way you would like to be treated. It is simple and made sense to me as a kid. It still guides me and I now teach it to my kids.”
Why do you think a place like Boys & Girls Clubs would have mattered to you as a kid?
“Just having a safe space to be a kid is so important. I was lucky to have those spaces. Every kid deserves that.”
We couldn’t agree more. And now, with Jack’s voice and vision on our board, we’re better equipped to make that safe space a reality for even more kids.
Welcome to the team, Jack. You’re already making a difference
