Meet Ryan Weber

Ryan Weber

Ryan brings over 15 years of leadership experience across mission-driven organizations, most recently serving as Executive Director of Experience with the YMCA of Greater Richmond in Virginia. In this role, he led operations for the largest branch in the region, serving more than 16,500 members and 300 staff members.

Previously, Ryan served as Area Director for Planet Fitness in the Bay Area, where he served more than 100,000 members. He holds a Master of Arts in English from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and is passionate about building high-performing teams and strong staff cultures, creating exceptional experiences for youth and families, and aligning operational excellence with meaningful community impact.

Tell us a little about yourself and what brought you to BGCSM. 

I have been in both for- and non-profit organizations and youth development spaces for over 15 years and have led operations in various settings in Charlotte, NC, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Richmond, VA. I have a great passion for youth advocacy and I am so excited about the mission and direction of BGCSM. I believe so much in the work we are doing as an organization, the impact we have in our communities, and the potential to keep growing to reach more families! I am married to my beautiful wife, Shai, and have a 21-month-old daughter, Sami. They are my universe!

What excites you most about your new role?

I love developing systems and staff to thrive in their roles. My biggest dream for the beginning of my role here is to continue to build on the amazing culture we have here and to strengthen our systems to give our Members and staff a world-class experience in our Clubs. 

What experiences or strengths do you hope to bring to the organization?

I am culture obsessed! I love building an environment across an organization where people are more than the output of their job description, they are a known and valued member of our team. I love bringing a system of belonging and accountability, while also ensuring that we remain solely focused on our mission. Our kids deserve the best and I am especially skilled at casting a compelling vision and bringing about action steps to help us fulfill that vision. 

What would you like team members to know about how you work and lead?

I am incredibly relationally motivated. We deserve a space where we are known, valued, and respected and are contributing to something beyond ourselves. I expect a lot from our team because our Members deserve the best. I appreciate honesty, transparency, mutual respect, and a commitment to be your best self.

What previous roles or experiences have prepared you for this important position?

I have been in Executive spaces at the YMCA, churches, and for-profit spaces that have brought about a great combination of value and vision-based work and aligning that with a standardized process of operations. 

What is your personal “why” for doing this work?

Very simple: Kids first. I love advocating for children, giving them spaces to realize their dreams and potential, and to level the playing field so each child has as much opportunity for success as anyone else!

Just for fun: What is something about you that might surprise people?

I once danced in the Disneyland parade wearing a pink tutu! The dancing was suspect but the outfit was spot on!
