Team Talk: Meet Jason

Jason has been with Boys & Girls Clubs for over 30 years. In fact, his commitment to kids started when he was just 19 year old. Since then Jason has gone from a Recreation Assistant to CEO of the organization! We interviewed Jason to learn more about his incredible Boys & Girls Club journey.

Interviewer: What is your favorite boys and girls clubs memory that makes you smile?

Jason: This June will be 31 years working with Boys & Girls Clubs. I have so many memories at Boys and Girls Clubs that include meeting my wife at a Boys & Girls Club conference.

I’ve met people along the way who are still some of my best friends today. Memories with the team members I have worked with and supervised. Who have also gone on to have long careers in Boys & Girls Clubs and similar professions.

Of course, memories with the Club members (from when I worked more closely with them) who are now adults. When they tell me how much they loved the Club and how much of an impact I had on their lives.

Interviewer: What was your role when you first started, what is your role now?

Jason: My first job with Boys & Girls Clubs (June 1991) was a Recreation Assistant.

Like the Program Coordinator position today. Although our programs were not nearly as dynamic as our programs are today. I spent each day that summer playing soccer, basketball, and whiffle ball with the kids that came to the Club. As a 19-year-old college student at the time, I thought it was the greatest job ever. I was being paid to play sports…loved it.

I've done just about every role in Boys & Girls Clubs over the last 30 years. I've been a Program Director, Director of Operations, CEO, and I even worked with Boys & Girls Clubs of America in Government Advocacy.

Today, I'm one of our two Vice-Presidents of Operations. I am overseeing our operations in Cloverdale, Geyserville, Healdsburg, Windsor and Petaluma.

Interviewer: What inspires you to come to work in the morning?

Jason: Today, I’m most inspired by our dedicated youth development professionals. Especially those on the Program Leadership Team.

I love their dedication and commitment.

They inspire me to help them be successful professionally. I work hard to remove as many obstacles as I can for them. So they can continue to impact the lives of our Club members and families every day.
